Forio – Day 3 – Part 3 – We Walk Into Town

A plaque, outside the Chiesa del Soccorso, remembers a visit by Pope John Paul II, in 2002.

At Piazza Municipio, #9, you will find the Monumento ai Caduti, which is a monument dedicated to the citizens of Forio, who lost their lives in the two World Wars.  The names of the fallen, including those who lost their lives in the Holocaust, are engraved on the monument.  It dates from 1995.

Also in Piazza Municipio, you will find the Chiesa di Santa Maria Visitapoveri.

At Corso Francesco Regine, #36, you will find the Cinema delle Vittorie, which opened in 1970.  It is one of the venues that host screenings, during the annual Ischia Global Film & Music Festival.

In Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, you will find the Fontana Zampillante.

Before beginning the walk back to the hotel, a bit of a refreshment was needed, and that ended up being a delicious lemon granita!

After yet another glorious sunset, we headed down to the dining room for dinner.  We ate fish, eggplant parmesan, soup, grilled fish, and veal breast with roasted potatoes.

Next up: We spend Day 4 exploring more of the town of Forio!
