Omegna – Day 3 – Part 2 – A Walk Through the Historic Center

Black Beard is a great bar and restaurant, at Via Felice Cavallotti, #18.  This is where we purchased the panini we had for dinner, our first night in town.  We would stop here a few times, during our stay.  The staff is friendly, the drinks are great, and if you get a seat in the back, along the windows, you can have a view overlooking the river.

The Palazzo di Città is the town hall of Omegna.  The building dates from the 1800s.

The entrance to the palazzo is flanked by two busts.  One is of Vittorio Cobianchi, the founder of the Metallurgica Vittorio Cobianchi, an ironworks that employed over 1,400 people.  The other is of Andrea Nobili de Toma, who founded a mining company in 1847.

The Chiesa del Sacro Cuore sits along the Nigoglia River, at Vicolo Fantello, #6.  The church dates from the early 1900s.

Next up: We continue to explore the historic center, and then, head out for a delicious dinner!
