Ischia Porto – Day 1 – Part 1 – Goodbye, Naples, and Hello, Ischia!

Our last evening in Naples was a nice one! We walked back over to the small group of restaurants and bars that surround the base of Castel dell’Ovo, and had our aperitivo, drink and snacks before dinner.

The next morning, after breakfast, we gathered our luggage, and headed to the port area, to catch a ferry to our next destination: Ischia Porto.

We purchased our tickets online, in advance, and then, when we arrived at the ferry terminal, we paid the modest fee of €10 per person, to have our bags checked, and put on board the ferry for us. I highly recommend doing this, if you are traveling with large luggage. There is a size limit, as to what you can carry on board yourself, but doing it this way, we had no problems, and were not questioned. The bags were safely stored on the boat, and were right at the exit, when it was time to disembark. We saw quite a few other travelers who had not done this, and were being given a hard time, because of the size of their bags, and ours were larger!

We were staying at an aparthotel not far from where the ferry docked, in Ischia Porto, and so, after the approximately one-hour boat ride, we were in our new home, for the next few days.

For me, the best feature of the apartment was the deck. The view, once you stepped outside, was wonderful!

Next up: We begin to explore the area of Ischia Porto!
