There are over thirty rooms that make up the visitor’s path in the Palazzo Reale, and so, I recommend giving yourself at least an hour and a half to enjoy it.

In one room, there was a fascinating machine that resembled a sort of Ferris wheel for books!

The Cappella Reale, or the Royal Chapel, today houses a Neapolitan nativity scene, which dates from the 1700s. The scene and its figures were made by celebrated Neapolitan artists, including Giuseppe Sanmartino. It is a wonderful sight! The details of the figures, as well as the background they are sitting on, are amazing to behold!

At the time of our visit, a special exhibit centering on Caravaggio’s The Flagellation of Christ was taking place. We were lucky enough to catch it!

Next up: We head outside to the gardens of the Palazzo Reale, and then, enjoy our last evening in Naples!
