Erice – Day 3 – Part 3 – The Treasures of the Cathedral and More

On the left side of the cathedral, a small area houses the Tesoro di Erice: the church’s treasury of paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and other precious, religious items.  The number of artworks on display are few, but interesting, and one should set aside at least a few minutes, to spend here.

Back in the main area of the church, still on the left aisle, the Cappella de Scrineis dates from 1586.

Across the street from the cathedral, on Via Vito Carvini, #11, you will find the tiny Chiesa di Sant’Isidoro.  This small gem of a church was built in 1666.  It was closed, and the building left abandoned in the 1930s, and was only reopened to the public in 2010.

Next up: We end our stay in Erice with more exploring, and a fun dinner out!
