From the grounds of the Forum Omegna, we could see, up on a hill, the Santuario della Madonna del Popolo, and so, we chose that as our next destination.
Also on the grounds of the Forum Omegna, you will find one of the locations of the Istituto Professionale Statale per l’Industria e I’Artigianato “Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa.” Here, students take courses in electrical and mechanical maintenance and technical assistance, as well as electrotechnical electronics.
The Santuario della Madonna del Popolo is at Via A. Manzoni, #99. The actual date of the church’s construction is unknown, but what is certain is that it predates the year 1616, for that is when a much venerated statue of the “Madonna and Child” was put inside. Unfortunately, at the time of our visit, the church was closed, and so, we made do with walking around the grounds a bit.
A plaque, on the side of the church, honors those members of the Alpine troops who lost their lives in the two World Wars.
As we made our way back, towards the center of town, we could see a waterfalls ahead of us, on the side of the mountain.
For dinner that night, we decided to eat in, and so, we picked up some meat at the Macelleria Rinaldi, as well as a prepared lasagna, at another specialty shop nearby. At the end, we went home, to have our meal and relax.
